About Carina
Hi, I'm Carina.
I'm a registered psychotherapist (qualifying) with a genuine belief that good therapy doesn't have to feel clinical, distant, or intimidating.

I'm a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) and recent graduate of the Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. I'm also a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst, and I work with children (7+), adolescents, and adults — offering compassionate, evidence-based care that balances structure with flexibility. With a strong background supporting neurodivergent individuals, I have extensive experience working with clients with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), including those who are newly diagnosed and navigating executive functioning challenges. I integrate Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, Dialectic Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) to help clients build psychological flexibility and move toward values-driven living. I'm known for my creative and flexible blending of therapeutic approaches — helping clients "connect the dots" between thoughts, emotions, behaviours, and life experiences in a way that feels accessible, empowering, and meaningful. My areas of focus include anxiety, depression and low mood, self-esteem, life transitions, motivation, boundary setting, emotional regulation, stress management, social-skills development, brief solution-focused problem solving, and family systems.
I also support clients in exploring meaning and purpose, seeking joy alongside growth, and developing practical strategies that translate into everyday life. My therapeutic style is warm, collaborative, and grounded, with well-timed humour used intentionally to foster connection, ease tension, and create a relaxed and engaging therapeutic environment. I'm approachable, playful, and genuine — I bring my happy, relaxed personality into our work together while maintaining strong clinical integrity, because I believe healing can be both effective and human. A self-described "champion of whimsy," I value curiosity and playfulness as powerful tools for insight, resilience, and change. When I'm not immersed in academia or clinical work, I'm an amateur bird watcher who enjoys slowing down, noticing small details, and finding joy in the natural world — values I gently encourage clients to rediscover in their own lives.
My approach
"Therapy works best when it feels like a real conversation — not a performance. I'm direct, warm, and I'll challenge you when it's useful. I believe you're the expert on your own life; I'm just here to help you see it more clearly."
